Slack Free limits to 90-day history (same as before). Teams Free allows 300 users with 30GB storage pool. For a solo, Slack’s notification UX and integrations are better. Teams Free is underrated though.
Teams Basic at $6/mo per user is cheaper than Slack Pro at $8.75/mo. For small teams that need video calls and file storage, Microsoft 365 integration makes Teams a full office suite. Slack is a messaging tool.
Slack Business+ at $18/mo has SAML SSO, data export, and compliance features. Teams Standard at $12/mo is cheaper but the notification UX degrades at 25+ people. Slack is better at scale.
Microsoft Teams is included in Microsoft 365 E3/E5 at no extra cost — most large enterprises already pay for it. Buying Slack on top of M365 is redundant and expensive. If you already have M365, use Teams.
Slack API is better documented, more widely used in dev tooling, and has better webhook support. Slack’s developer ecosystem (hundreds of integrations) is deeper than Teams.
